They go by many names- beverage burro, wedding burro, tequila donkey, beer burro and they are the best addition to the wedding scene since the controversial cake smash.
These fuzzy and friendly long eared additions bring a fun and entertaining element to your wedding. Depending on the service you select, the donkey and their handler can take pictures with your family and friends or even serve boozy beverages from their saddle baskets.
Three reasons why you need a burro at your wedding:
Less Stress! This is a perfect way to kick off your reception celebration and give you and your new spouse plenty of time for post-ceremony pictures with your photographer. Your guests will be entertained and have a few (or more) drinks while dinner is being prepared.
Kids love it! We hand out donkey stickers to kids and give their parents a brief break while they pet and love on our super gentle burro.
The pictures! Your guests will want a photo with the burro, tequila shot in hand. There is nothing more southwest than an iconic burro, and your out of state friends will never forget this experience.
What to expect when you hire a burro service:
Typically the burro arrives slightly before or during your ceremony and gets prepped for their debut. Once your ceremony ends, the burro is located in a spot to greet the guests near the reception or bar area. Wild smiles and squeals of glee ensue!
If you choose a beverage service, the burro can carry beer, seltzers or even a full tequila bar in their saddle baskets. You or the venue must provide the alcohol (per state law). Our business, NM Pack Burros, can serve your guests since we carry a valid NM Servers license or we can partner with your venue’s bar staff.
We typically hang out for about an hour and half to entertain your family and friends and depart about midway through dinner. Don’t forget to check your gift table for our special wedding present from your tequila burro.
Our burro prefers to be outside, on a patio adjacent to the dining or bar area, but we can do a variety of indoor venues as well. We have partnered with most of the wedding venues in the Albuquerque and Santa Fe area and look forward to seeing what we can do for you!
Cheers,
Shane & Jess, and Jules- The Tequila Burro
